Formed in 1981 by the partners Fraser W. Harris, DA (Dundee) RIBA, ARIAS, AMRSH and David A. Johnston, Harris & Johnston
Architects have to date undertaken over fifteen hundred projects of varying type and scale over a range of values from £5,000 to £750,000.
Works undertaken include Housing, Commercial, Industrial, Educational and Sports-related projects.  We are equally comfortable with
new-build and works to existing buildings.  Evolving housing design solutions for difficult sites and the conversion of existing buildings for
housing are areas of particular specialism and experience.
Major clients include the National Galleries of Scotland, National Museum of Scotland and Heriot Watt University, where we have
successfully refurbished the Sports Centre entrance area and lounge facilities.  Other sports-related projects include the alteration and
extension of clubhouses for golf and bowling clubs, and the provision of maintenance facilities buildings.  We were also involved, for
several years, in the development of the National Pro Karting Centre in East Lothian.  Major commercial clients include Pure Malt
Products in Haddington and Scotseed Products in West Lothian, for whom a new-build £750,000 warehouse was completed in 1999.

Projects in Edinburgh for all to see and enjoy include the refurbished toilets in the National Gallery on the Mound and the creation of the
Queen Street Café in the National Portrait Gallery in Queen Street.

We are members of the Edinburgh Chartered Architects Network (ECAN) and the Royal Institute of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).
